- Server Platform Delivery: Delivered high-performance CPU baseboards for data center and supercomputer projects in collaboration with a US National Laboratory.
- Full Design Ownership: Led hardware engineering teams responsible for schematic capture, PCB stack-up definition, component placement, routing guidance, power-on test plans, debug procedures, and high-volume manufacturing readiness.
- Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Led collaboration with signal integrity, power delivery, mechanical, manufacturing, environmental, software, and firmware engineers.
- Project Planning: Worked with program management on project scheduling and provided mentoring and guidance for junior engineers.
3. High-Speed Interface & Validation Expertise
The role requires expertise in high-speed signaling, PCB design, and validation tools.
- High-Speed Interfaces: Delivered USB Type-C prototype hardware, Thunderbolt subsystem integration, and wireless module designs (WLAN, Bluetooth, GPS).
- Lab Instrumentation: Proficient with oscilloscopes, vector signal analyzers, vector signal generators, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, and network analyzers.
- Architecture & Trade-offs: Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical trade-offs between subsystem component options and make architecture decisions spanning electrical, mechanical, and software integration.
- Autonomous Delivery: Completed complex, multi-board system designs with a high degree of autonomy, owning all aspects from architecture through validation.
4. Education & Career Progression
The role requires 10+ years of experience (with an MS) and at least 2 years of direct SI management.
- Education: Holds an MS in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
- Career Tenure: 22+ years of progressive engineering experience at a global semiconductor leader, advancing from rotation engineer to hardware engineer to senior hardware engineer to engineering manager.
- Management Experience: 6+ years in an engineering management role overseeing data center platform hardware design.
- Early Career Foundation: Circuit-level design background including pipelined ADC design and component-level specification analysis.
